It’s always sunny at Silicon Speech!
President Alex had other business to attend to. No fear, our fearless leader Steve is here. Steve opened the meeting by welcoming our guests for the night, Ananta and Carla.
Area one director Carla had big news. Carla’s position as Area one director will be up for grabs by the end of the month. If you’re interested, please contact her or Steve for more information.
Congratulations to Rafael, for accomplishing level 1 in his pathways. Bravo!
Li was our Toastmaster, leading us to a successful meeting.
Shar was our Joke Master. How does the man on the moon cut his hair? He clips it. Oh Shar, you slay me.
I shared the Thought of the Day. “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” —Dr. Seuss
Timer was Armando. Loving that magical tri-color ball.
Ah Counter was Sharlene. No ah or um was safe. Nice work!
Grammarian was Steve. He chose the word “Aplomb”. It means self assurance, especially in a demanding situation.
Chief Evaluator was myself. Steve and I enjoy wearing multiple hats as you can see.
First speaker was Karan. Confidence and practice make a great speech. Sometimes the best speeches come impromptu. Knowing your content is also key to a successful speech. Karan presented his speech with aplomb. Thank you, Karan.
Second speaker was Lou. Lou did a redo of his Ice breaker speech. First off, we were amazed by his elegant visual slides. His story of his career and how he got there was not an easy journey. Some key points to remember are “Be friendly, be bold”, and “don’t be afraid to start all over”. From sneaking his way into a studio for his first gig as a kid, to working at a video game television channel, G4tv! Lou has come a long way. With his many talents and fearless wits, Lou is not afraid to start a new journey. There is a knock on the door, Crypto is calling.
Hema evaluated Karan. Hema will never forget trust and practice. Great advice.
Lauren evaluated Lou. Lauren and her washer had kind words. Lauren loved the weaving of the stories which led to his present stage in life.
Andy was our Table Topics Speaker. He chose the theme “work and personal goals.”
Ananta thinks the greatest skill to have is public speaking. You are in the right place for that Ananta! Welcome.
Sharlene’s first gig involved knowing every restroom in the building. Very important knowledge.
I was asked, what would I be doing if not for my present job? As a child I wanted to be an architect. I now dream of being a writer. After many years of Toastmasters, I have come out of my shell and I am no longer afraid to start all over. I’ll start with these blogs for you fun people and loving every minute of it.
Carla lives to work, Or work to live? Carla got her dream job and realized it wasn’t for her. Non prophet has been something Carla has found rewarding and enjoys. Work to live is her answer. Love it Carla!
What makes Steve a good mentor? Well, Obama does it best. You allow other people to light up the room. Steve for President 2024!
That’s all from me. Special thanks to Carla and Ananta for stopping by and taking the time. Always lovely seeing familiar faces. We had an eventful meeting. Thank you Andy for keeping us on our toes with Table Topics. Lou’s slides are always magnifique!
