Meeting Minutes – 05.14.2020

Alex Schams lead last night’s meeting with enthusiastic pizzazz. He gave us a nice back story into how he fell into Toastmasters. Hint, it was a chance encounter with yours truly, SHAR McBEE!

The meeting was kicked off with a bang. Marina gave us a speech to remind us that even with distance, technology will give us a way to communicate no matter the oceans that separate us.

She mentioned the reasons why people come to Toastmasters, and that is the camaraderie and the ever changing goals that people have. Great Job Marina! Love the chair and sweater combo by the way!

Next up was our very own first laddie Luis Hurtado.

Luis really put on his best, “weather man” approach and had an amazing interactive green screen. His speech happened to coincide with the word of the day which was “Duality”. Len might have had a hand in that with her role as Grammarian.

Luis spoke about the contradictory approaches when it comes to oneself. The balancing of one extreme to another that can have dire effects. Sometimes the worst of times can lead to amazing outcomes like you know… the internet & freedom. Great job Luis! We can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us next time.

When it comes to Table Topics, Shar McBee always brings insightful questions. Shar mentioned going to a Comedy Improv class once, and had us thinking…What do we really want? And how creative can we be? The possibilities are endless! Thank you Shar for drilling those thoughts back into our heads.

Our fearless leader Steve Evans had other engagements this magical evening, but I’m sure he enjoyed his evening as well.  I want to give a special thanks to Rajiv & Kenzii for answering some of our table topics questions and joining us.
