It was another great Silicon Speech meeting last night, live and online! Luis Hurtado was our Toastmaster as we continued to show our indomitable spirit and polish our video skills. After sheltering in place for a few weeks, it’s always great to get the gang back together. I was the only speaker and I want to thank Evaluator Sam and everyone in the chat box for the valuable feedback.
A special shout out to Li Xin (Lee Shing) from Toastmasters Club 90210 who joined us to check out our virtual meeting and end up volunteering to be our Timer. Marina Romanova returned to the group last night, on her birthday, no less. We were honored and serenaded her with a very interesting, unforgettable version of Happy Birthday to You. After the meeting, she was planning to have a small celebration at home with her husband and a bag of frozen mangos.
Len Kung lead the Table Topics portion of the meeting which gave us all unique insight into how we’re spending our time at home, socially distanced. Lauren Clayton, a fitness enthusiast, misses the gym and has focused her attention on in-home workouts (we even caught a glimpse of her new treadmill). Armando Yee recounted a cautionary tale about the perils of biking and checking your playlist (not recommended) and Rich Keeves has taken up cooking with hopes of becoming “Master of the Lasagna”. All that and Marisol Zumaeta became an official, dues paying member! Welcome to Silicon Speech Marisol!
