Joke Master was yours truly. Leaving doors ajar, is my thing.

Hema was our Thought of the Day. Hema chose James Clear’s book, “Atomic Habits”. To paraphrase it, Different meanings can be assigned to the same event. Choose an explanation that empowers you.

Li was our Toastmaster of the evening. He led us to a successful meeting.

The Ah Counter was Hema. She counted all the Ah’s and Um’s in the world. The planet thanks you Hema.

Timer was Lou. We were timed appropriately.

The Grammarian was Steve. He chose the word “disputation”. It means to debate or to argue.

The Chief Evaluator was Rafael.

First and only speaker of the night was Matthew. Matthew presented his Ice Breaker Speech. He gave us a look into the world of being stuck in front of a computer screen all day. After a mini meltdown, he realized he needed to move his body more. Surfing has given him something to get lost in. Time in the ocean is non-existent. Silicon Speech has also given him more people interaction time. He loves basketball but he’s a foot too short and a hundred pounds too light. He quickly gravitated to surfing instead, and is in love with losing time in the waves. Right on Matthew! Bravo!

Karan evaluated Matthew’s Speech. Karan gave kudos for sharing his personal story of why he joined Silicon Speech. Karan can share the same love of the ocean and knows the feeling of waiting for the right wave.

The Table Topics Speaker was myself. I chose some random questions to fire at unexpected members.

Hema prefers to love or be loved? Well, she’s hoping her kids will still love her when they are older. Of course they will!

What gets you up, when you are down? Shar had another amazing story. A cheating lady found love after praying for forgiveness. It’s appropriate because Yom Kippur just passed. Such a hopeful story!

What sustains Rafael? Coffee, kids, and keeping breakfast interesting. Routine is key.

Happiest childhood memory? Lou loved his trip to Spain as a child. First time on a bullet train to the best sleep in his life on a milk truck. Sounds like a blast!

Define success? President Steve believes it’s in the eye of the beholder. A quote he recalled from the movie titled “Jack”. The quote was “to live life spectacularly”. Love it!

If Matthew could have one wish? He’d love to be surrounded by things and people he enjoys. Great answer!

Li viewed a live interview in his company. The interview was by Adam Grant. He mentioned asking everyone to write down their thoughts before the meeting. Li thought that was a great idea.

What is Karan’s greatest skill? To be mindful. It’s a journey but seeking it out from mentors keeps him motivated. Being present is also a continuous journey. Love that insight.

That’s all from me! Thank you everyone for participating. Big bravo to Matthew on his Ice Breaker speech. Loved getting to know you and we can’t wait to hear more! We had a couple of no shows tonight. Please let us know in advance if you can’t make it. We’d love to have a smooth meeting. If you are not sure what role you have, please check the Agenda prior to the meeting. We update that as soon as the previous meeting ends.

Cooler weather calls for sweaters and Christmas decorations? Talk about time travel!

See you next time!
