Silicon Speech is back with a spring in our step!
President Alex opened the meeting from sunny Honolulu (home roof deck tiki). Quick reminders the dues are overdue! If you haven’t already, please contact Treasure Evan to pay those dues.
We were joined by our fearless leader Steve who was out on assignment last week, but came back swinging with an exciting speech.
Yours truly was the Thought of the Day. “You always pass failure on the way to success”, Mickey Rooney.
Next up was the Joke Master, brought to us by Jaclyn. Velvita face masks are all the rage. Andy received a nice box of brown-E’s. Alex got a makeover his parents did not approve of. April fools! No faces were harmed during this recount of Alex’s experience. Sadly, Andy never received real chocolate brownies.
Our Toastmaster for the night was Treasure Evan.
Li was the timer.
Counting the Ah’s was Jaclyn.
Grammarian for the night was Luis. He chose the phrase, “wigged-out”. Which means, mentally or emotionally discomposed : upset, crazy.
First speaker of the night was performed by our very own, Steve. The speech was entitled “The Sport of Speech”. Steve spoke about his tremendous career as a sales director for a little known company, Showtime. His career in speaking has escalated him to new endeavors. Steve gave us a glimpse of his website which looks amazing. Steve reminded us that it’s possible to be a better speaker. Just like getting the sweet summer body you always wanted. You have to put in the work.
In terms of the golden summer tan, you can rotate under a camera light like a 711 hotdog. Excellent speech Steve! Always a treat.
Second speaker was Shar. Shar graced us with an impromptu speech. She gave the words of wisdom only an experienced soul can provide. Talk about golden nuggets. This lady is filled with them. Do you want to test someone’s true colors? Just give them a tiny bit of power and see what happens.
Armando evaluated Steve. Armando commended Steve’s ability to handle a lens flare better than Michael Bay.
Andy evaluated Shar. The tables have turned. Andy gave a riveting review on the many gems of wisdom that Shar gifted us with.
Table topic speaker was Karan. Karan chose the theme “Leadership.”
Rafael appreciates leadership skills in his child’s Principle. He takes the time to talk about issues with the students and parents. He always ends with a high note and something positive to keep the spirits up.
Blake moved from LA to Phoenix as a young child. Luckily she made her way back to LA as soon as she could. Maybe someday, you will find those roller skates.
Calvin’s father is an entrepreneur. When things were good, they were great. But when things are bad, skill is what will keep you afloat.
Jed believes there’s a balance in work and play. It’s a bidirectional format for a fulfilled life.
Kenzii joined the volleyball team in her school days. She took on the most important position, the bench. She regrets nothing.
Luis prefers single person sports. He was on the wrestling team in high school and prefers to feel the weight of the world all to himself.
Special thanks to everyone who participated in the meeting. Always the highlight of my week. Easter weekend is upon us. Please enjoy the lovely weather and try not to wig out!
Please pay those dues and keep this good thing going. That is all from me. Have a spectacular weekend!
