Greetings fellow Toastmasters and honored guests!

Silicon Speech is back in action!

President Steve opened the meeting by welcoming our fellow members. We did not have any quests tonight, but that did not stop us from having a blast!

Steve gave us a quick update on all paths in Pathways. If you need assistance logging on, or not sure where to start. Please reach out to Steve. If you have not done so already, please log on to Toastmasters International website and access your goals and accomplishments.

With that said, on with the show!

Li was our Toastmaster for the evening.

The Thought of the day was yours truly.

The Joke Master was Karan.

The Timer was Lou.

Grammarian was Shar. Steve helped pick out a word on short notice. The word of the day was “panache”. It means flamboyant confidence.

The Ah Counter was Kenzii.

First Speaker was Rafael. Rafael spoke about E-Waste. Everything gets recycled besides our tech products. In reality, only 25% of our things get recycled. In terms of our old TV’s, laptops, and outdated cell phones. Where do they go? They end up in landfills in other countries. Rafael mentioned how Apple makes their products impossible to fix. Well, there’s a company trying to make laptops easily to swap out parts without tossing out the whole thing. Perhaps this is the future! Great speech Rafael!

Second Speaker was Antonio. Antonio performed his Ice Breaker speech titled “Serial Procrastinator”. How has procrastination shaped Antonio? Well, it makes him excited to wake up at 5am to complete his homework a couple of hours before school. Antonio is from Brazil and before he chose his major, he waited until the last minute to choose because college majors were difficult to change. Antonio also had “analysis paralysis”. Sometimes you just have to choose what’s in your heart and go with it. Standing ovation! Great speech Antonio!

Ananta Evaluated Rafael. Ananta loved the topic because recycling is something near and dear to his heart.

Karan Evaluated Antonio. Great theme and wonderful personal introduction.

The Table Topics Speaker was President Steve. Steve picked the theme, “One on One”. Try to speak to one person. Then we guess who that person is speaking to.

I love the month of October! I was speaking to Steve.

Miray wished she understood the power of networking in her early years. She was also speaking to Steve.

Lou says life is easier with efficiency and internal competition. Lou was speaking to Li.

Kenzii says life would be better without traffic, long lines and bad attitudes. Amen! Kenzii was speaking to Shar.

Shar thinks a hero is when life gives you more than you’d hope for. Who was she talking to? Me!

Li said the downside of modern society is it’s moving too fast. Achievement is pure pressure. Li was speaking to Karan.

Karan would have a lot of redo’s. He would have been more conservative financially. Who was he speaking to? Antonio!

Rafael could teach his life lessons. That was enough to mentor a stranger. Rafael was talking to Kenzii.

Antonio said people should know what it’s like to be an immigrant. The stresses of starting a new life somewhere else. He was talking to Li.

Ananta would describe his future as something to do with humanitarianism. He was speaking to Rafael.

That’s all from me! Big thanks to Antonio for sharing his personal journey of procrastination. Thank you everyone for spending your time with us. Always a pleasure. Loved the Table Topics from Steve.

It’s getting cold! Sometimes. That’s LA for you!

See you next time!
