VPPR Lou, shared a few side splitting jokes. A speech club for potatoes? Maybe they’re just commentators.

Kenzii had a thoughtful thought as our Thought of the Day. She quoted from a book titled, “The Body Keeps the Score”, by Bessel van der Kolk M.D. To sum it up, the change is within and to become aware of our inner experience.

Sergeant at Arms Li, was our Toastmaster for the night. He did an amazing job by going through the Toastmaster structure for Walter, I mean Matthew.

Ah Counter was Kenzii. Not one Ah, or um unaccounted for.

Ananta was our Grammarian. He chose the word “Abate”. It means to subside, less strong.

Rafael graciously took the role as Timer at the last minute. We appreciate you greatly.

First and only speaker of the night was yours truly. R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me. The famous words of the Soul Queen herself, Aretha Franklin. Respect has many aspects to it. One cannot buy it. It’s observed, and earned. Parts of it include trust, commitment, and no ego. I shared some personal stories of how those aspects led to me understanding the deeper meaning of respect. A long journey that continues on in my life.

President Steve was our Table Topics Speaker. We did not have a second speaker for the night. Steve had a fun game planned for us. The theme was to “sell it”. Amazon is filled with odd items. We sold it!

I sold a “personal mosquito net”. Hate those pesky bugs? Well I sure do. You’ll never have to worry about that again!

Li sold a “burrito blanket”. Not only did he sell it, your instagram followers will be clammering for that link!

Sharlene sold a “bacon lip balm”. If you love bacon, you can smell it all day long.

Matthew sold “squirrel fingers”. Need extra grip and look cute while doing it? Matthew’s got the product for you.

Lou sold a “yodeling pickle”. It’s quite the item to show off to your friends at your next get together.

Shar sold a “bread pillow”. Not only is it comfortable, it’s tasty too.

Kenzii sold “fingerless underwear gloves”. It’s for that unique individual.

Ananta sold “animal socks”. If you’re feeling primal. Ananta has the item for you.

Rafael sold “cat butt tissue holders”. It’s definitely a conversation piece.

Ali sold some “Shakespearean insult bandages”. At least you’ll have a good laugh when recovering.

Before we closed out. Steve shared a video of the Toastmasters International winner for 2014. His name is Dananjaya Hattarachchi from Sri Lanka and man, is that one of the best speeches I have ever seen. If you don’t believe me, check it out yourself. Dananjaya Hettiarachchi – World Champion of Public Speaking 2014.

That’s all from me! Christmas gifts are going to look very interesting this year. Thank you to our guest Matthew for dropping by. It was a pleasure. Thank you to all our members for participating and making Silicon Speech the best in the world!

Summer is not quite over, so I’ll keep my personal mosquito net ready to rock and roll. Have a great week.

See you next time!
