President Steve kicked off the meeting by welcoming our fellow members. Although our group was a little smaller this evening, that didn’t stop us from having a blast!

The Thought of the Day was by Hema. Hema gave us some quick quotes she collected over the years for her children. Quotes include, “if you don’t make choices for yourself, someone else will”. “You are the hero in your story”. Love it!
Toastmaster of the evening was Ananta. First time toastmaster and he did a splendid job!
The Grammarian was Shar. Word of the day “Benison”. It means a blessing.
The Ah Counter was also Shar. She’s doing double duty. Thanks Shar!
The Timer was Steve.
The Chief Evaluator was Steve. So many hats!
First speaker and only speaker of the night was Karan. Karan is working on his LinkedIn profile and he spoke about that experience. Your LinkedIn profile is like your Ice Breaker speech. He mentioned how the “about” page is crucial. It’s where you make an emotional connection. Karan read his profile and gave us some insight to his new endeavor with LinkedIn. Informative speech Karan!
Hema Evaluated Karan. Hema loved the topic and personal story.
The Table Topics Speaker was the “Horror Queen” herself, Me! Loving the idea of catching our members off guard is what Table Topics is all about. I decided to fire off some random questions.
Are Horoscopes accurate? According to past horoscopes, Shar should have been married with a child in the 80’s. So, the answer is no. However, she has a fascination with it and believes we have a connection with the universe. I concur!
What do you love about yourself? Hema is the lucky lady I picked. She would say it’s her curiosity. Astrology and science is a debate in her home. She can’t help but research it and learn more about it. Love it!
If you could be a character in a movie, who would you be? Matthew would be the character in “Into the Wild”. Without the ending, of course. He loved the idea of self exploration and living life minimally. Great answer!
If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for? Ananta would want to be famous for his attributions to the world. Empowering people to understand how things work and making the world a better place. I second that.
What jingle or advertisement has stuck with you all these years? Steve would say McDonalds. Quotes like “eyes on the fries”. Can’t forget Nike’s, “Just do it”. Nike’s quote came from an unexpected place. Think of the last words of a soon to be executed inmate. Kind of dark, If you’re into that kind of thing. Yes, I am!
What Karaoke song would you sing and why? Karan would say something from Frank Sinatra or songs from Bob Marley. He admits he doesn’t have the best voice, but can magically sing when specific songs come on. Add some adult beverages and I’m sure we all sound amazing.
What era would you have wanted to be born in? Lou said it has not happened yet. Things progress so quickly that it should get better in the near future. Technology, travel, and hygiene comes to mind. He also loves the 1950’s rockabilly era. He was a self proclaimed “greaser” in his younger years but not in the actual 50’s. He did not exist yet. Great answer!
That’s all from me! Big thank you to Steve, Shar and Ananta. Ananta did an amazing job as a first time Toastmaster. Steve and Shar worked double duty. Thank you everyone for spending your time with us.
Time to tuck away those short shorts and pull out the long shorts. Summer is coming to a close. California summers are slightly different from the rest of the world. Sweater plus shorts are a great combo.
Have a great week. See you next time!
